Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of services provided by The Vet Shed in collaboration with Butterley Alpacas. By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Please read them carefully.
1. About Us
Services are provided by The Vet Shed offering veterinary support, herd health planning, breeding advice, diagnostics and practical alpaca husbandry services. As Butterley Alpacas,we provide starter herds and health advice for owners.
References to “we”, “us” or “our” relate to both The Vet Shed and Butterley Alpacas unless otherwise stated.
2. Scope of Services
We provide services including but not limited to:
• Herd health planning
• Husbandry advice including pasture management and biosecurity
• Parasitology and faecal egg counting
• Routine procedures including toenail trimming, dentistry, vaccinations, Vit ADE injections and microchip implanting
• Owner training
• Blood and plasma collection and transfusion
• Castrations
• Enferplex blood collection for bTB testing
• Ultrasound pregnancy scanning
• Fertility advice
• Matings and stud services
• Second opinion clinical support working alongside your primary veterinary surgeon
All services are delivered with professional care; however outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
3. Veterinary Responsibility
Where veterinary procedures are undertaken, they are provided by a qualified veterinary surgeon.
Some services offered may be advisory or husbandry based and do not replace the role of your registered primary veterinary practice.
You remain responsible for ensuring your animals are appropriately registered with a local veterinary practice.
Emergency care is not provided unless explicitly agreed in advance.
4. Bookings and Appointments
Appointments must be booked in advance.
By confirming a booking, you agree that:
• You are the legal owner or authorised keeper of the animals
• Animals will be suitably restrained where required
• Safe access will be provided to land, facilities and livestock
• Accurate medical history will be disclosed
We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services if safety is compromised.
5. Fees and Payment
Fees will be agreed prior to appointment wherever possible.
Payment terms:
• Payment is due on the day of service unless otherwise agreed in writing
• Invoices must be settled within 7 days
• Late payments may incur administrative charges
We reserve the right to request deposits for certain procedures or group bookings.
Prices may change without notice; confirmed bookings will honour quoted rates.
6. Cancellations
If you need to cancel or rearrange:
• Please give at least 48 hours notice
• Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a charge
• Missed appointments may be charged in full
Weather dependent services may be rearranged at our discretion.
7. Animal Welfare
You confirm that all animals presented are handled in accordance with UK animal welfare legislation.
We reserve the right to decline treatment if we believe welfare standards are not being met.
Sedation or additional restraint may be required for some procedures and will be discussed beforehand.
8. Limitation of Liability
While all reasonable care is taken:
• Livestock work carries inherent risks
• Outcomes cannot be guaranteed
• We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses
Our liability is limited to the value of the service provided, except where prohibited by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Biosecurity
Clients must disclose any known infectious or notifiable diseases prior to visits.
We operate strict biosecurity protocols; however responsibility for on site biosecurity ultimately remains with the animal owner.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on this website including text, imagery and materials remains the property of The Vet Shed and Butterley Alpacas unless stated otherwise.
You may not reproduce or distribute content without written permission.
11. Data Protection
Personal information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR.
Client data is used solely for service delivery, communication and legal record keeping.
We do not sell or share personal information with third parties unless legally required.
A full Privacy Policy is available upon request.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us directly so we can resolve matters promptly and professionally.
Complaints should be submitted in writing within 14 days of the service provided.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
