Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
We provide a wide range of alpaca focused Veterinary and husbandry services including herd health planning, parasite testing, routine procedures, fertility advice, pregnancy scanning, stud services, owner training and second opinion support. We work alongside your primary vet where appropriate and tailor support to your herd and goals.
Do I still need my own local vet?
Yes. If you are not local to us in Cheshire, we strongly recommend that all owners remain registered with a local Veterinary Practice. Some of our services complement routine Veterinary care and we are happy to liaise directly with your Vet when needed
Do you offer emergency services?
We are unable to guarantee provision of 24 hour emergency cover so it is important that clients are registered with their own Vet. I am contactable most of the time and so may be able to talk you through the decision making process and help you decide if an emergency call out is needed. I am happy to liaise with your registered Vet if they feel they would like my input.
How do I book an appointment?
Simply contact us via the website or directly by phone or email. We will discuss your needs, provide a quote where possible and arrange a suitable visit date.
Do you travel to clients?
Yes. Most services are delivered on site at your holding. Travel charges may apply depending on location and will be discussed at booking.
Absolutely. We regularly support new keepers with owner training, basic husbandry, pasture management and herd health planning. There is no such thing as a silly question; we are here to help you feel confident.
Can you help new alpaca owners?
Yes. We provide fertility advice, pregnancy scanning and stud services, helping you make informed breeding decisions that support healthy genetics and strong future herds.
Do you offer fertility advice and breeding support?
Second opinion support means we work alongside your primary Vet to provide additional clinical insight, herd level assessments or management advice. This is particularly helpful for complex or ongoing issues.
What is second opinion work?
Costs depend on the type of service, herd size and travel distance. Wherever possible we will provide an estimate in advance.
How much do services cost?
We follow strict biosecurity protocols during all visits. Owners are responsible for informing us of any known disease issues beforehand and maintaining good on site biosecurity.
